I just looked it up, the part number for the space saver spare is 36116768861, 5x18, list price is $91.32. The proper tire size is 155/90/18, BMW's part number on the tire is 36120037603, it's a Continental emergency temp spare, list price $144.71. So roughly $236 plus a valve stem and any mounting. Sounds like your dealer just didn't feel like making a phone call or looking in the computer.
